Arrival
Students may arrive on campus no earlier than 7:10 AM. Staff members will not be available before that time to monitor students.
Dismissal
Students will be dismissed by teachers and directed to the appropriate areas for dismissal. Prompt pickup of students is essential. Students should go directly home from school. They will not be permitted to go to another section of the campus or reenter the building after dismissal. If a child is to go home a different way from normal, parent must submit this change in writing to the front office staff. If a child needs to leave school early, his parent or designee must report to the office and show a driver’s license or other valid ID to sign the child out. The child will be called to the office for early dismissal. Parents are not permitted to enter the building and remove a child without going through the office. You may not sign out your student after 1:15pm. Early release Monday’s is no later than 12:15pm.
School Hours:
7:40am – 12:55pm Monday (Early Release Days)
7:40am – 1:55pm Tuesday – Friday
**One-hour early release every Monday with the following exceptions:
At dismissal time we request everyone’s cooperation in picking up his or her children on time. Please plan ahead with your child so he/she will know what to do on days when it is raining at dismissal. We are not equipped to have students calling home or parents calling the office with messages. Please be assured that your child will be supervised. Their safety is our utmost priority. Your patience and cooperation will be greatly appreciated on these days. In the event of inclement weather, students may be held in the classrooms at the discretion of the administration.
Rainy Day Dismissal
Please review with your child their rainy day plan. Due to the quickly changing Florida weather, rainy day dismissals are decided upon at 12:40pm on Mondays and 1:40pm Tuesday-Friday. To help with communication at the end of the day, if there is going to be a “Rainy Day Dismissal”, we will text you with our Parent Link System. This will alleviate you having to make a last minute call to the school to remind your child how they will be going home for the day. Thanks for your help!
Absences
Parents are requested to call Bevis Elementary and leave a message when their child is absent. Call 813-740-4000 to report child’s absence. Please leave a detailed message including “child’s name,” “your name,” “teacher,” “reason for absence,” and the “date.” Messages are compared with our daily attendance data, and phone calls are made to confirm undocumented absences with parents. If a phone call is not made, a written explanation must be received within one (1) day of a child’s absence. If no written notification is received, the absence is regarded as an “unexcused absence”.
Tardiness
It is important that all students arrive promptly to class. Our teachers teach from bell to bell. If a student is tardy, not only do they miss valuable instruction, but their arrival is disruptive to instruction already in progress. A tardy slip from the office is necessary for admittance to class when the student is late.
Student Code of Conduct
The Code of Student Conduct rules are sent home during the first week of school. Please review this document with your children. Sign the appropriate page and return the page to school.
